The Barbados powerhouse recently graced the cover Elle Magazine’s December issues, which will be on stands soon. Of course, RiRi took to Instagram (yes, you read that correctly, Rihanna is back on Instagram! I jumped for joy, too), to post some of the candid shots the world is dying over. Rihanna graces the cover with a constructed piece, seemingly as a half dress half shirt and pants. Throughout the spread, Rihanna’s outfits vary from an off-peach dress, to a crop top and legging (accessorized with a birthday hat), to a black dress, to a long fur wrap. Of course, all of the photos are accompanied by the natural, glowing face of Rihanna and dark curled up hair, which is a look we haven’t seen on Rihanna yet.
As always, people loved the spread but were more interested in the fact that Rihanna was clothed. It’s no secret that she loves showing off her island body and doesn’t care what people have to say about the kind of revealing spreads she does or clothes she wears. At the same time, why do people make a big deal about Rihanna actually wearing clothes? Yes, Rihanna shocked the world with her Josephine Baker inspired dress at the CFDA Fashion Awards and her nude spread in the French Lui Magazine, but before and after that, Rihanna has been known for her love of fashionable clothing. For someone who has a bad girl image, Rihanna does have a very tasteful fashion sense. The hype around Rihanna “wearing clothes” in this spread, in my opinion, is just an over-exaggerated reaction and is simply unnecessary. No shade, no tea, but I wish other stars like Miley Cyrus and Lena Dunham could put some clothes on… but that’s none of my business.
Be sure to pick up the magazine when it hits stands. We guarantee these pictures will persuade you to make RiRi your Woman Crush Wednesday, but then again who wouldn’t?
