Nature’s Way Organic Coconut Oil
– Nikki Lynette, Founder
Coconut oil is good for everything. I mean it… everything! Of course I cook with it because of the many health benefits, including speeding up your metabolism and acting as an antiviral agent in the body. In addition, I use coconut oil to deep condition and moisturize my hair, on my skin after a long, hot shower, and to remove my make-up (even waterproof mascara!) A little bit of baking soda and coconut oil is the best lip exfoliator you’ll ever try.
I like Nature’s Way coconut oil because it’s not hydrogenated, bleached, refined, or deodorized. Organic coconut oil is 100 percent non-GMO. It can get a bit pricey depending on where you buy it, but if you’re a bargain hunter like me you’ll be able to find a good deal. It’s worth every penny for a product that is so versatile that it will quickly become a staple in your kitchen and your beauty cabinet.Get It!
Aveda Damage Repair Intensive Restructuring Treatment
– Jenn Nicole, Special Contributor from The Sevenology
Winter destroys my hair. Like, seriously. On top of this, my schedule is pretty busy and sporadic, so its difficult to get to the salon regularly for treatments. Thus, I’m left to my own devices and Aveda’s Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment has become my go-to hair savior.
I use the treatment once a week for 30 minutes with a shower cap and a towel wrapped around my head to keep it warm. Follow with a rinse and feel the smooth sleek strands run through you fingers. Super simple, right?
You might be a little shocked by the price (I usually get the larger size), but it really is worth the investment. If used in conjunction with the other four products in the line, you’re pretty sure to rock an awesome mane this season.Get It!
Johnson and Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel
– Gillian Ramos, DM Director of Operations
I am slightly OCD about all beauty products. But as soon as the first fall breeze hits Chicago, my skin screams for extra moisture. As I do prefer some light weight, skin glowing, fruity lotions in the summer, I get down to business with the heavy duty artillery for the colder months. Fortunately, this product is also light enough to use in Spring!
Though I can’t remember for the life of me who initially recommended J&J’s Baby Oil Gel, I can’t get through winter without it! I keep mine in the tub and apply after a quick towel dry. My open pores immediately soak up that thick moisture and lock it in. The gel part is really the key to eliminate that sliminess that traditional baby oil tends to have, but I am still able to absorb all the benefits. After hair and makeup are complete, any excess gel has disappeared and I am ready to get dressed without any mess.
At around $4 it is so, affordable, simple, yet effective. You’ll have a little extra cash for a cocktail that night.Get It!
E.L.F. Studio Lux Brush Collection
– Tarrah Gibbons, In House Editorial Contributor
Finding a great brush for your makeup can be a difficult task. Inexpensive makeup tools are either poor in quality or out of a college student’s price range.
When I am doing my makeup, I need a brush that does not fall apart but is still affordable. Thankfully, the cosmetics company e.l.f. has a great selection of high quality brushes for a girl on a more humble budget.
Whether it is a foundation or eyebrow brush, they work on par with some more costly tools on the market. Application is darn near streak free and always has even coverage, which can be important for enhancing that un-sun kissed complexion in the cold months.
You won’t find any issues blending these brushes into your beauty routine.Get It!
Freeman’s Bare Foot Scrub
– Kelsey Stone, In House Editorial Contributor
Like many people, I deal with dry feet, especially in the heel area. There are many products out there that say they will keep your feet smooth, but they end up working as regular lotions. On a random day, I discovered Freeman’s Bare Foot products. At first, I was impressed that there were a variety of products for whatever foot problem you are trying to solve, but I was a little thrown off by the price. Then, I thought to myself since the price is fairly low, I really wouldn’t have much to lose. Later that night, I got the best results of any foot product I’ve used before. I highly recommend using this product for men and women.
To get your feet smooth and soft for Spring and Summer, I would suggest using Freeman’s Bare Foot balm twice a day. You can find this at any grocery store and it only costs $4.00. Wash your feet with warm water and scrub your foot with a pumice stone. After you dry them, put the cream on your foot and slide on a good pair of socks. Your feet with feel amazing and you’ll thank me later!Get It
Burt’s Bees Lip Balm
– Erin Ricther, In House Social Media Contributor
Dry chapped lips are inexcusable during Spring. Unfortunately, I’m one of the unlucky who struggle with this when the harsh cold months hit. As a college student, I can’t always afford to drop a ton of money on a top-of-the-line moisturizer. Luckily, last year when The Polar Vortex hit Chicago, Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm was my best friend.
The all natural tin is a wonderful option for those who are trying to stick to a budget. It’s great for quickly curing dry lips and serves dual duty as a skin protectant and soothing agent.Get It
Orly Rubberized Bonder
– Taylor McElroy, In House Editorial Contributor
A girl’s manicure can tell a lot about her. For me, my nails tell the world that I paint my nails once every three months and think chipped nails just adds character. This isn’t true AT ALL. I love having perfectly polished nails, but I’m cursed with nails that seem to reject any polish I apply to them.
If you’re anything like me, invest in this godly product: Orly Rubberized bonder. It’s basically like super glue for nail polish. It adheres the polish to your nail to give you longer wearability. Coming from a girl whose nail polish usually chips the same day of a manicure, I was mind-blown when I went TWO WEEKS without a single chip. Pro tip: use it as a basecoat AND top coat for the best wear. You can pick this up at your local beauty supply store for an affordable $10. Best ten bucks ever spent.Get It
